“I am No Longer Weighed Down by Debilitating Pain"
“When I remember my life before HFX, it’s mostly images of pain, sadness, hopelessness and defeat,” said Monica, whose painful ordeal began in 2012 following emergency back surgery for a ruptured disk.
Monica says she was a healthy, active 41-year-old prior to the surgery, which resulted in nerve damage that was not relieved by multiple sessions of physical therapy. She was then referred to Dr. Eric Cornidez. The treatments and injections he prescribed helped until Monica developed horrific spasms in her foot and ankle.
“I could not lie down or even recline without instant spasms,” Monica recalled. “I would scream and sob inconsolably from the pain and only got three hours of sleep a night if I was lucky.”
A traditional spinal cord stimulator failed to help. The next step was Monica’s successful HFX trial in April 2018, followed by her implant in June 2018.
“I know it may sound corny, but HFX has been like a miracle and truly has given me my life back,” Monica said. “I am sleeping through the night, can walk for miles like I used to and even run on a treadmill now that I am no longer weighed down by debilitating pain.”
